锡兰游记 - 完结篇

早上天亮得比较早，每每睡醒的时候总是五点多凌晨。

反正自己也没有睡回笼觉的习惯，倒不如早起，到附近吃了早餐后，就想看看当地人的日常。
在民宿往海边走，我们看见了大家都撑着五颜六色颜色鲜艳的雨伞，听说现在是季候风，雨季也随之而来。我们到的时候天气宜人，有小雨，可是也不太炎热。

走着走着，我们走到了bambalapitiya的火车站，才发觉原来人们都是“跳”着下火车，到站了只看见人是一个、两个的往轨道上跳地下车，让我们两个城市怪人看得目瞪口呆。接着雨也就越来越大，我们只好到当地著名的超市Keel避雨，姐姐也随手买了些当地零嘴为手信。

接着看看时间也到了与之前民宿老板Mr Linton约好的，到colombo火车站领回失落的手机。打着当地的巴士往市中心区，才发觉交通简直是瘫痪了一样。车龙延续了好几公里，沿海公路也因此堵塞了。看着雨中的总统府，希尔顿酒店，在建着的香格里拉，斯里兰卡确实不如想象中的落后。内战为这国家带来一定的伤害，可是也因此激发了人民的斗志，要把国家从内战中振兴过来。因此，我们一路上看见三步一小岗，五步一大岗的军队对哨站，也不无理由。有些建筑的墙面还是看见了弹孔，不得不为这国家的平静而欢呼，对街道上的军人肃然起敬。听之前的司机说，国内最大的职业就是这些部队与警察，想必是要为维护国家的和平而出一份绵力吧！

之后本来想到pettah市场走走，博物院看看，可是都嫌雨下得不好，湿嗒嗒的，都没去成，反而到了政府经营的Laksala商场逛逛。看着晶莹剔透的宝石专卖店，我们为妈妈提早买了圣诞礼物。这边的半宝石(semi precious stone)的价格合宜，相信是因为官办的，所以也不刻意的装潢及宣传。识货的人都会到这儿逛逛。

接下来我们就到茶叶专卖店狂扫货。这边有好几家大牌子，Dilmiah, Boh, Mlesna等等的，都是搜罗了全国最好的茶叶，所以价格在colombo会比在kandy的便宜，因为加工厂就在市区本身。建议要卖茶叶可千万不要到kandy等胜地购买，分分钟会比大市区的来得贵。
结束了疯狂的采购，我们很勉强地塞进了行李箱后，也就依依不舍的挥别着民风淳朴的城市，

总的来说，斯里兰卡算是一个较不错的城市，可能是从内乱在挣扎的康复中吧，我们才得以看见了很真实的一面、很努力生活的一面、开始有了些闲情来招待外来者得一面。我说实在的还会回到这城市来，可能是看看茶田，看看亚当峰上的天空寺庙一览，pinnawela的大象孤儿院，有个遗憾的就是我没有机会看到在竹竿上钓鱼的人。斯里兰卡，加油吧！期待你把触角伸向世界的一日！

锡兰游记 - 四

几乎所有当地人知道我们将前往colombo的时候，都不约而同皱了眉头说那边没什么东西，为什么要到那边去。看来当地人都不太喜欢colombo这个大都市。其实也不管，反正最后这两天我们要的就是追寻心灵上的慰籍，以慰劳这两天疲累的身心—简单来说就是血拼—就勇敢地过来了。

本来想尝试一下什么叫海岸线铁路，波莱坞式的火车之旅，可是旅社老板就告诉我们说火车票现在千金难求，还不如我们自己打冷气巴士下去。想了想，唯有这么办了。

第二天早上用过早产后，结了帐，也就让司机帮我们送往长途巴士站。临上车前我们还给了司机50零吉马币作为酬劳，让他笑得见牙不见眼了。把行李箱及背囊搬上车后，我们也就再次把时间耗在这四个小时的车程上。二姐在这时候突然问了一句：你的手机呢？我下意识往口袋一探，却发现是空空如也！心急如焚的我不断向隔壁的曾可来回地骚扰及四下摸索，结果才想起可能是掉在司机的车里了。急急拨了电话给旅社老板，确定了手机的下落，也幸亏他明天会下colombo招徕客人，千托万托他顺便把手机给捎了过来，才稍稍的安心继续上路。

这里的长途巴士不是2+2，是直接5个座位一字排开，中间的座位时可折叠式，有人的时候就会摊开来，没有人的时候就可以折叠回。实在是让我大开眼界。

到要进colombo的时候我们才发觉原来老板介绍的民宿实在我们不熟悉的地方。向隔壁的一个帅帅的斯里兰卡少年达到听了，原来她也要到那一带，正好我们就随着他在colombo总车站打往郊外的巴士。colombo的县都划分成不同的区，由几个小镇组成一个划分区，我们要前往的地方是bambalapitiya，连同周遭两个小镇组成了colombo 4。找到了那间民宿后，原来是有一对夫妇所经营的，没有大肆宣传的招牌，静静的呆在一条小巷里静候他的客人。从外面看起来就像是一幢极其漂亮的两层式洋房，楼下是夫妇的日常生活空间，楼上划分成了五间客房，一个偏厅，阳台，及男主人的办公室。这里房间有限，所以尽可能的县拨电查询 Mrs Settupathy。我们要了间有冷气的、洗手间内置式的双人房间，价钱远远比其他来得便宜，3200卢布一晚，不备早餐。到了那里，我们就匆匆赶往斯里兰卡的著名商场—ODEL去疯狂进货了。

ODEL里头真的是什么都有，类似斯里兰卡的百盛，如果你会找，在里头还能翻出一两件超廉价的名牌，都是剪牌货（题外话：斯里兰卡很多外国名牌的制衣厂，假设今年要下一千件的订单，就必须要制五百间额外的内地行销，据说是政府的规定）。买了七七八八后，我们押拖着沉重的脚步回民宿休息，打算就在那儿附近解决晚餐。

六点半，街道上已经是漆黑一片，我俩在路上走着也不懂该拿什么填饱肚子，突然发觉有一家餐馆人头涌动，就近去看了看。原来是一间斋馆。他里头有很多各式各样色彩鲜艳的糕点，然后们就要了那儿出名的chapatti和phratha。这边当地人进食都十分豪爽，什么都是一大盘一大盘的，我们尝了那边鹰豆咖喱，还有面食，都觉得味道相当不错。

结束了第一天在都市的闲逛，找周公去了。

锡兰游记 - 三

据说狮子山就是古王的＂酒池肉林＂。除了在山脚下看见设计得有相当规模的御花园，还可以看见相当复杂的防御设计。

在一千两百零二级的石阶上，坐落的谋朝篡位的古王宫殿。我们从山下开始，耗费了近四十五分钟，到达了保留的相当完美的壁画石窟，「吃风」编辑有说过其中有的多了个乳房，少了个手掌，可是我们很努力地看，也没看出个什么。反而当时的绘画技术已经是相当成熟了，仕女图在黄姜汁及原始颜料的彩绘下，个个仿佛跃于纸间，神情既庄重又带着一点的欢乐。从石窟眺望，整个古迹的鸟瞰图一览无遗，有那么一点的兴奋，也有那么一点佩服古人的鬼斧神工。

再往上走，我们经过了镜面墙，看着历年来的赞叹字句，也不得不对政府保留古迹的心力彻底的折服。反观我们国内的古迹，能拆的，该让路的，都七七八八的不见了。看见山上的一位警察，才听说了她每天都必须走着一段路上山，同一条路下山，难怪他的体魄如此健壮。镜面墙之后，我们来到了狮子爪，也就是真正的狮子山下。狮面已经无法考究，剩下的狮爪还是完好无缺。稍做歇息后，我们与一同的英国夫妇竞赛，往山顶冲去。看见只剩下遗址的王宫，往下望，可以想像当年威武的君临天下。古代泳池，王座等都依稀可辨。往回走，才发觉整个过程还不及两个小时啊！一路上看见的都是外国观光客，更尤其以日本的旅客为多，上了年纪的也不怕辛劳，依旧往上爬。

看见了昔日的王座，人去楼空，宏伟的建筑只剩废墟，时过境迁的感慨。从山上走下来，一路上都是兜售纪念品的商贩，可能这不是旅游旺季吧，还真的门可罗雀。

狮子山下来后，几经虚脱的两个城市人，找了间午餐店，匆匆解决了后往polonnaruwa古城出发。

polonnaruwa还保留着相当完整的古寺庙。里头膜拜的的场所真的不少，到处都可以看见学生团，可能是为了在历史课上要有好成绩吧！我们还看见了不少是被刻画着联合国世界遗产的图样，仿佛在提醒人们要好好保护着如此珍贵的文物，也要让后代们懂得自己的根是何去何从。stupa林立在古迹中，这里我们也看见了相当完善的排污沟规划，建筑散乱林立的有序。其中最特别的是一个荷花池，形状以莲花盛开的样建造，咋眼望下去就像是个万花筒，可是色彩较为单调的说。

已经是近乎虚脱状态的两个人，坐上了车子回到kandy的旅舍后，随意地进了晚餐，就和老板讨了colombo较便宜的客栈联络方式后，已经就是会周公了。值得一试的事：当地的啤酒-lion legar，虽然香醇谈不上，不过顺滑入口是还真的不错喝。

收拾妥当了后，就往最后一个地点colombo出发啦~

锡兰游记 - 二

第二天早晨，在享用了员工为我们送上的西式早餐以及锡兰红茶后，我们就扛这一个巨大的背包，以及一位超级平易近人的司机，踏上我们文化三角之旅。

首先第一站来到了dambulla，以石窟佛像闻名的金佛寺。我们参观了金佛与金佛塔后，原本以为这就结束了，怎知司机告知我们往山上走去还有一个石窟，那个才是观光地的重点。好咯，就硬着头皮，往有点陡的山路上走去。一路上不乏买纪念品的小贩，也有很多狗只，慵懒地躺在路中间晒日光浴。我们有很努力的想往上走，可是步伐却越来越沉重。兴许是还没有暖身的缘故吧。我们未免坏了之后的行程，只好放弃了往回走。走到山下反而被司机嘲笑说我们真的没什么运动细胞，还真的只能讪讪而走了。

之后经过了一个小镇-matale，其实也没什么，不过有一座满雄伟的兴度庙。可能再返修的过程中吧，庙上的雕像都是土色的，缺少了该有的生气。可是就近点看，那栩栩如生的雕像还真的能把你给吸引住。除了有骑着大马的shiva，还有孤单的ganesha，prawati就站在他们的上头傲视一切。庙宇的后座突然传来的一阵喧闹声，原来是一座极简陋的学堂。（题外话：在走过柬普寨后的斯里兰卡，原来教育的普及化能对一个国家有如此深远的影响力，再苦也不能苦孩子，再穷也不能穷教育，建国之基，立国之本，在斯里兰卡让我深深体会到了）。

接下来我们就被领到了锡兰建国古都-anuradhapura。在进入古迹前要先买套票，55美金，能浏览接近十二个观光点，还有几个博物院等等。考古博物院很详尽的记载了当时的文化与宗教信仰，以及出土的一些古币，雕像等等。其中还在户外展示了早期僧侣的如厕，解释了如何利用早期的过滤系统来还原尿液中的水分。古迹里头只剩下的就只有一座蔚蓝色的佛塔，以及一棵千年菩提树。听隔壁家的导游解释，塔上镶有一颗硕大的水晶，说是避雷用的。塔的一方还有佛陀四轮回像，让我最感兴趣的是一座说是未来佛陀转世的样貌，打扮以及手握着的佛杖还真的与众不同。据说在六月计七月中旬，有关当局会在佛踏上布置了彩灯，以欢迎节庆，届时从四面八方来的佛教徒都会积聚一堂，诵经礼佛。另一厢，在千年菩提树下的寺庙里，我们看见两个青年手握着彩绘颜料，很努力及细心地为门上方的祥云团上最后的着色。（题外话：在斯里兰卡有很多讨小费的习惯，能免则免，也要小心不要随意接受陌生人给的东西，要不然后患无穷）。虔诚的心，还真不容人忽视。

走完这些点，已经是午餐时分。尝过了道地的斯里兰卡＂大盘饭＂后，已经是接近虚脱的状态。在做了两个小时的车，我们来到了sigiriya近农村的地方留宿，以准备明天攀登狮子山的壮举。这间greenpalace 是老板的朋友开的，本人是不十分推荐，不过既然在配套当中，也没什么好嫌弃的（题外话：防虫功夫要做得好，防虫油，喷雾等的，千万不要吝啬，否则就是苦了自己）。

锡兰游记 - 一

说实在的，应该没有几个人会把旅游和斯里兰卡联想在一块。

可偏偏的本人就是＂越没有人要去的地方，我就是要去拓荒＂。就是这种思维，把我和一个孤零零在印度洋中的岛国，就这么样的联系起来了。更尤其在之后读了Reggie的「寻找在竹杆上钓鱼的人」更是认为斯里兰卡还真的是一个不可错过的旅游天堂。

在临行前，自己对于这个地方的民土风情还真的一知半解。虽然网上的资料有的是，可是总觉得前方还是透露这一点点危险的气息。家姐虽然在吩咐下前往药行集聚了一些能想像得到的应急药品，可使自己还是不放心的下了两份旅游保单。不怕一万，只怕万一嘛。

好啦，万事俱备，也只能好好歇息，养足精神以应备明天的未知数。

凌晨六点的航班，加上提前的登入，我们四点就抵达了廉价总站。（题外话：自从亚行取消了登记服务，采用自居的滞后，原有的登记专柜就形成了一塌糊涂的情况，什么终点的旅客都能在同一个专柜登记行李，场面实在是比以往的一塌糊涂，有过之而无不及，真的还不如回复以前的专业水平，这项小零钱也想从客人身上榨取，太让人也瞧不起了。）好不容易上了飞机，才惊觉时差慢了个两小时半，原来这么一个距离需要三个半小时的航程，也算是在下打从娘胎以来飞的最远的一次了。

迷迷糊糊的，飞机在云层上飞行了多久也没有知觉了。自到有人在惊呼窗外日出的壮观景色，我才揉着惺忪的眼睛，同样的被这一幕给震慑住了。

摇摇晃晃~

终于抵达了简陋的斯里兰卡国际机场-katantunayake国际机场抵达站（题外话：虽然起飞与抵达终站在同一座建筑物，可是分了两个不同的名字，企图混淆视听的说，起飞：bandaranayake，抵达：katatunayake）。迎面的是一座和祥的佛像，所幸马来西亚公民旅游无需事先办签证，落地签证也在容易不过了。出了海关后，正烦恼这应该先到科伦坡呢，还是直上康迪，结果想了想，不如让这个旅程先苦后甜，先把比较劳累地放在前头，后面慢慢享受这异土风情。找着了免费从机场到巴士总站的巴士后，先前被当地旅行社缠上的麻烦事，也随着咸咸的海风忘了。在巴士总站有一趟从negombo前往kandy的直通车，只要车费130卢布，除了能体会一下reggie说的「秋明山漂移」外，更想的是看看从平原到高原的古路上的风景。车子在晃啊晃的开动下，当地人民也挤啊挤地上了车。原来前往这个斯里兰卡第二大城市的人也不少，kandy除了是高原外，也是很多旅客与人民涌向的地点。我们抵达机场的时间是当地的早晨七时许，可是太阳已经像马来西亚的十时许一样晒。

看着司机开始展示所谓的头文字D的漂移功力，路面也开始从平坦变成了蜿蜒崎岖的山路。顿时，窗外的气温也随之降低了不少，一个哆嗦，望窗外望去，看见了闻名遐迩的斯里兰卡橙黄的玉蜀黍。飘来一阵阵烫熟的玉米香味，才发觉自己已经开始饥肠辘辘了。在晃过了几个山头，我们终于在十二时许抵达了世遗文化古城-康迪。乘上当地特有的嘟嘟车，我们随意地在一家餐馆匆匆地解决了午餐候，随即联络了民宿主人给我们送上民宿，别以为在城市里的道路都是康庄的，都说了这是个高原，蜿蜒的山路总是在所难免的。把行李艰苦的搬到了房间后，才有机会细细地欣赏着远眺亚当峰的住宿。三千卢布一晚的住宿费加上西式早餐，就以这风景来说真的值得。blue haven guesthouse的老板是一个中年文质先生，先前与他电邮上来往就觉得他的热情真的让人无法挡，加上他也提供文化三角的旅团，所以我也没再做多打算的就决定住下了。虽然看官可能觉得这价钱有点儿贵了，可是他的舒适真的不在话下，加上他还免费给了我们半天的康迪城游，算是这样了。

第一天的行程总觉得干什么都不适合，只好选了看看文化舞蹈，以及较轻松的佛牙寺参拜礼。斯里兰卡在六时半已经是漆黑一片街道上在七时许已经是＂翻跟斗都没车来撞你＂的宁静。夜生活也不见得蓬勃，可能是因为这民风保守加上生活逼人来的因素吧！回旅舍躺了躺，也准备明天文化三角的一切事宜。

Okay, back to the game. This is a highly graphic-detailed RPG which fetures the story of augmentation - enhancing human capability through some biochip or external electronic devices transplantation - which kinda "play God" technology.

读完这一篇文字以后，才惊觉原来现在国内的所谓知识分子，对于人才外流的现象原来已成一种“麻痹”的现象。

人才，就字面上注解来说，是一个有才能的人。深入探讨，人才无论在立国、治国，都扮演着无其重要的角色。就高分毕业生在郑先生的解释里头，充其量只是“半个”人才，敢问郑先生，这“半个”人才能在国家以后的政、经、文、教发展上有多大的影响力，您是不是也能预测得到的？假设如斯严重的现象还不足以忧国忧民，是不是要等到第二个希腊的来临，我们才要担心呢？

进口外劳、难民，出口人才，是不是能提高我们国内的生产总值？国家制度能不能培育人才，相信郑先生没有将以往的事实数据纳入思路里，就我国高等教育制度培育出来的人才不计其数。姑且不论在执行者得多么不堪，就制度里头的系统、课程而言，与一流大专的相去不远。

“与其埋没人才，不如让人才有出路”，固其然是有道理，可是在写出这一句话的同时，您是不是在“努力让这个国家趋向更适合下一代发展的环境”为出发点而论呢？出路，能不能是在自己的国家里头呢？国家的概念不是由“朋友们”无限化扩大，而是应该如此以概念。“地球村“永远只是理想，只要人有私欲，一日都不能达成。

身为新闻从业员的您们，或多或少，或是间接地肩负着教育大众的责任。所发之言论，必是能起得了中立与教育性，或更甚的是具启发性的。唯现今的报章上言论，就以如斯领导层而言，不负责任，丝毫不将言论所带来的后果与效果纳为考量。

子曰：“骥不称其力，称其德也。”，望三思而后言。

A New Milestones

Some people asked was it worth to forgo my two years experience in Food Industry just because a better pay offer.
Some even asked was it really that matters that you have a better pay job?
Some said the otherwise, some did really show some support in which they phrased it the other way: You are looking into new perspective. Your past two years is not a limitation but a stepping stone.

Before I leave, I was trying so hard struggle to stay back as I know there's some challenege for me.
But I know if I were to stay put I will not go as far. I will build a fortress around what I have working my ass off after and I will be blinded by it. And all it means stagnant.

Some just feels it's kinda wasted since i will polish my resume super nicely should I stay put for a little while more. I notice something. I had this job offered without even the polish of it. So how should I begin? To say this job does not provide me the sense of security? Or maybe I know I would not have prosper in this? or maybe I was so naive thinking that I deserves better but I was barely anyone. This is pathetic. I don't really blame others. I know what a chaotic and mess which this led to.

So I rather refresh the page of my life, by being at the lowest in the foodchain again. I rather run back into the same quagmire which barely has escaped a year ago. There maybe surprises or new sparks, there maybe not. But I hope I had did the right thing. I just told others that do not regret what you chose, for you have chosen. I should practice what I preached.

So if I were to ask around my friends or any mamak-kaki, the most expensive yet simple dish on the marmaque menu?
I'm assuming that I will get -- TANDOORI!

In KL, or i would say Klang valley area, the price of tandoori may be from RM4 to some reaching tens of ringgit for a piece of tandoori drumstick or a breast. This is a very yummy delicacies, but also, some may not willing to pay that much for the tandoori - which in my past experience - they always served dry and lack of taste.

But you might want to switch your prespective when you have a chance to set foor in this particular stall - Pak Putra Restoran.

By the time we arrive, the restaurant itself was crowded with people from round the town! According to Ryanne, the shop doesn't run his order by sequence, nor by the first come first serve basis, but at random! Imagine you were to arrive when 10 groups of peopledoes at simultaneeously, according to p(x) theory, you need to compete with 10 of them to get your food served!

Luckily we are blessed by the Goddess of Fortune. We have our food served within just 20 minutes, which is much much shorter compare to the two hours my friend has waited!
Now let's get back to the food business.
I can't really said this is the best chicken I've ever had, but definitely THE BEST tandoori that I've ever had! The drumstick I had is just cooked and you can still taste the juice of the meaty flesh which bounded inside after the long hours of char grill!

Well, I might also go back for the delicious cheese naan, where no other stall may serve the Cheese as CHEEZY as this particular naan!

So, tips of advice. You may not want to miss this for your next foot-stepped into Melaka, they are not just satay celup there!

I'm not that into Apple, which always make people forgot how good is Orange/Banana/Papaya etc etc,

So it's has been a while since my last Loh Mee.
This dish has actually equated to patient as we usually have this dish at Tai Chao without all the crackling.

So here I am again, with this dish, along with some rice vinegar.

The shop which we visited before heading up to Fraser's Hill, Swee Yen Restaurant at Ulu Yam Lama, was tad famou for its Loh Mee. Surprisingly, when i was Ovi Map-ing for the location of interest round Ulu Yam, this
"Ulu Yam Loh Mee" has actually bumped into one of the landmark! Well, that tells how famous it was as it was actually mapped onto the Ovi!

After spending quite a few turning and sense of uncertain, we've finally reached at the doorstep of the shop.
Although it was not a very hot morning, still, the stuffiness of the weather was unbearable as we have 5 full grown adult in a car!

Thank goodness it was actually air-conditioned! We were served with some chilling jackfruit and super cooling and refreshing iced honey lemon tea (which IMHO tad expensive which costs RM12 for the volume of 4 glasses!).

The main dish was served after the yummy fish cake, which i always thought the fish cake was so artificial that i would not bother to order from the menu. surprisingly, or may be the hunger-drive, it was so yummy with the outter crisp and slight chewy within.

Finally, the main dish was served. The famous Loh Mee along with some side dish we ordered.

Frankly speaking, I will not be a LOHMEEFANATICs based on the noodle they served.

But, yes, i will be all CRAAAZZZYYYY for the curry wildboar! It was so tender and succulent, served well with the crunchy long beans, along with the exact amount of curry powder to overcome the boar taint. I'm so in love with the dish!

Well, for those who intended to try out the local products, they do have honey for sale. The meal was generally okay, but would not advise you purposely drove all the way from down town, unless you're passing by the town from Genting *ehem*.

Yes, I know, I shouldn't have go for another buffet session judging on my health status.
But this is so different! they have Alaska Crab Leg!

Well, kinda disappointed since the quantity does not come on par with the quality, but anyhow, it's kinda a good try on these exotic species!

Nonetheless, sushi in various kind. I would say the sushi is quite fresh as in the texture and ingredients were quite skillfully handled, leaving a freshness sensation after taste. Served along with marinated jellyfish and baby octopus, this section of raw and read to eat deserves a thumb-up!

Well, I'm not actually a big fan of fried stuff, but this shop has a very unique item of fried soft-shell crab, also, with not too chewy calamari rings, and it's just amazingly delicious. Tenderness and juicy grill unagi is also another must try item. This fried-stuff section has a make it yourself raddish soysauce dip, too!

Though I've never try on this steamboat, but according to the gastronomy expert which comes along saying that the soup was just ordinary but the richness of the ingredients in it was stunning!

Oh this lovely yuzu ice-cream has made me go for more food since the citric acid in it has helped in digestion!
As compare to the Sakura International Buffet previously, this shop has better quality and servings in terms of money and services. Try it out!:)

So, when you looking for a quench under the scorching hot Saturday afternoon, where will you go?

It so happened that we passed by this shop, so often, then we did not even bother to check out what is actually sevring in it. The outside of the shop was so plain whitish deco in which does not serve as an attraction to me!

But we've decided to give it a chance, also, to fulfill our thirst towards any icy or refreshment can ease our disappointment for not getting any tickets to the movie!

Shokudo, a Japanese Coffee House (so-called) actually offers a variety of Japanese-Western mix menu, ranging from the traditional katsu-don, to the weirdest unagi cheese pizza. So, since we were there for the tea-time, we pampered ourselves with a small dessert, a side dish and the appetizer.

For starter, we have this lovely Mango-Ebi rolls, served with slight spicy mayonnaise, rolled in a lovely rice paper.

The presentation was good, but frankly, we do not like this dish that well. Firstly lack of flavour which the main ingredient of ebi tenpura, mango which too raw to have the sourness overwhelm other ingredients.

Next we have our Unagi Cheese Pizza, topped with bonito flakes.

Surprisingly, the barbecued unagi match so well with the cheese toppings, along with the enhancement from the mushroom and bonito flakes, just well, if you put into your watering mouth with spike of tabasco. Yummy, highly recommended dish! The super-thin crust of the dish welly bake, and it is super crusty when served.

Lastly, wince our main mission is to refresh our thirst, the Macha Iced, topped with Japanese red bean and chestnut seriously will light up your day. The sweetness of the matcha syrup is well harmonized by the milk and red bean, along with the icy yet chewy mochi served. Yes, another highly reccomended.

Mochi that comes along has already has its flavour, which will even lifted up when scooped along with the matcha ice!

Well, if you are looking for a quench in the mid-noon, consider this place!

So I thought I will never support the ACER ever since my last bad experience with them.
You will be heart-broken when the laaptop has walk you through so many seet and sours in life,
in the end, broken, and successfully made himself into a panel-like lappy.

So, I've been cruising lappy as I need to get rid of my laggy, lowly-performed, and also somewhat paraalyzed battle-mate.

And you showed up, my friend, my dear, my everything!

So, may I present to you ladies and gentleman, Acer Aspire TimelineX 3820TG, a.k.a. my lovely new companion!

Build inside was the medium range i5-450M processor, along with a ATi Radeon 5650 GPU, this guys is seriously cool! come with 4GB RAM and 3MB L3 cache, it able to perform up to 2.4GHz as compare to my last lover 1.6GHz. Phew~ do not doubt that I was paid by Acer to say this, but, at this price range, it is seriously a good lappy that you could look for!

The sleek design of the keyboard, long with the brushed metallic surface of the back panel, this lovely comes with ultra-thin LED panel which support 16:9HD output!

The only shortage is that prolly this 13.3" display may not be useful for your need in some big action gaming, but sufficient much on the other processing or entertainment needs!

This is the second visit to Holland Village as the place seriously fascinating.
For those who has been to Bangsar Village, this is something like that, chill out atmosphere in the middle of busy city.

In order to catch up with long lost friends, we had our visit to this lovely quiet place round the end of the road.
Without the contrast of crowd from the other part of the street, this place is further comforted with a man-made landscaping, also a gigantic coffee brewing machine at the front. We chose our seat at first floor, where the wooden spiral staircase lead us up.

As usual, there will always be a place for appetizer. I've ordered the Quesadilla with bolognaise. The salsa dip was great accompany with the warm quesadilla, along with the salad top with balsamic vinegar. It's definitely the good kick-start for the night!

Next on my menu was this peppercorn beef stew rice. the rice was ordinary but the beef stew is good. You can taste the beef tenderness and the right amount of spices added. the cheese melted just right where you can mix well with the rice to have all the flavours in one spoon!

To me, it always equalize to the expensive terms.

So for usual, there will always be an appetizer.

This bruschetta instead played a lovely role in starting up the appetite. as compare to one that i had before, this has extra crunchiness which enhanced the flavour of marinated tomatoes and onions as topping. Slight garlic aroma is just hint to lift up the taste of raw toppings.

Had another appetizer as we do not wish to have some heavy main course.

The baked mussel was just not much of surprise. An ordinary mussel dish with cheezy toppings. Slight fishy smell in the mussel, not really got rid by the cheeze.

Just a simple pizza with slight sweet-ish satay toppings, barbecue chicken and some mushroom. The crust was indeed a good one which I hope the puree of gravy can be just a little much to dip with. Cucumber and onions as topping makes the dish taste like satay wrapped in pita pouch. Ha!

Guess this sop should just stick with what they are good at, i.e. the ice-cream shop!

So it has said that the birthday must be celebrated in a most gluttonous way. Believe it or not, this has been a tradition for you to have an excuse to treat yourself better (or not) on a once per year basis.

Thanks to my dear sis n broinlaw, we manage to commit the sin of gluttony on this wonderful night at this wonderful place. This is suppose to be a place for peranakan buffet, expecting all the lemak lemak, curry curry, or spice spices, surprisingly they served too some western cuisine, with some sashimi along with kimchi. Not so peranakan I guess.

Well, speaking of buffet, people will sure go for some light and expensive materials or cuisine, but this is a buffet which actually a satisfying one, allowing one to carry back his gastrointestinal content when finish.

Though I always go for seafood in the buffet, this beef deserves a column in this post as the tender and juicy texture of it, really makes you want more. Thick gravy along with the heavy flavoured gravy, goes well with any pastry or rice item.

But, the beef is still not the best on the list, the mutton rendang is. Never expect to get such flavour in the island and it taste exactly the way it should be from a Malaysian view. Though the mutton was a bit dry to the taste, the gravy is just close fit to the cheese pratha which serves along.

How can a peranakan cuisine present without any kuih? This is among the dessert which deserves a thumb up for the not over-essenced-flavour of the layer cake.

I do not know whether this is true, apparently, the quality of buffet in this island is judge by the quality of durian dish in it. And according to the many reviews, the durian pudding in this place is seriously a 5-star standard dish. But looking at the presentation and the mess in the pot, I rather chew on the bull's testicle or the fried grasshopper than to stick this thing into my mouth. No way!

So overall, i will give a 3.5 out of 5 for this buffet session, judging from the poor services and the varieties of it.

Oh!

It is already the third day in new job! And also the day I officially terminates my employment!
So, it has been officially a week since I got myself down at this island country.
Yes, a small island-ize and gadget-ize world.

People don't ask "Cut already ar?"

They don't say "Aiya, stand for a while la, few stops only what"

And their curry is sweet-ish.

And now only i realized that zebra line, is not for road decoration only, and you can have a plate of chicken rice for 2 bucks, you can survive a day with 5.

People don't have all those Diam*nd arr, N*SH arr, Amw*y ar, they drink from tap.

It's kinda hard to walk from CPF to HDB through JEI, when you just have no idea what are the abbreviations. FYI, this is SG you see.

Ever since I was confronted for my capability, it has always be a pain in the neck when speaking of working life. It has never been pleasant.

I started to draft a different future.
I started to do wild imagination by casting a very big net, which led me to another totally different environment.

“It will not be easy”. I know.
“You may not adapt”. I understand.
But why not give it a try? I longed for a different working environment provided it must be in a good system. Good system accommodates productivity, ingenuity and motivation. It should not be as dull as the working environment which I have stuffed myself into for the past ten months. I have positive anticipation for the coming challenge.

Will I have a happier environment? I bet I do.

apart from shooting reality objects, just this evening i discovered that it can be used for light graffiti too!

Now, as per instruction from one website, they suggest to turn the shutter speed to 3 seconds. I was so clever to interprete as 1/3s then the outcome was just me stupidly standing infront of the cam.

Ehem, ok, till i found out that it actually means 3" on the shutter speed, and then i realize i have not enough time to draw what i wanted to draw!

Nevermind, then i tried at 5 seconds, thinking that it would be more that enough time on it, however...

I'm missing one "T" for my own short name!!

Well, then, i guess, my writing speed was so slow, and i decided to switch to 15 seconds, and i finished up a smiley for 3 seconds, and waited stupidly for the shutter to close after 12 seconds!!!!

...and it doesn't look like one smiley at all!

ok then, finally i've decided to do something "nicer" by signing off my own name, and the best shot i can get...

A Month of Celebration

December is a month of closing, a month of reminiscing, a month of counting down, a month to conclude your new year resolution.

Well, for me, this is a month of celebration.
The first ever redbliss has arrived at my family doorstep.
The first ever opportunity to get connected to a total stranger family.
The first ever milestone for my family to welcome a brand new member of all, my brother-in-law.
The first ever memorable year.

It is so strange that by the join of two souls, it actually joins the two whole entire families together, connecting family's friends, affiliations, and all sorts of network seems to be connected by the join of two person. Woah, world doesn't seems that big after all.

Joyous season should be the top prioritize news to shared among family.
Radiant of happiness, brim of joy, warmth of excitement should be the main dish on the table.
Despite on how rare you've connected with each other, sometimes you can't stop be happy for the lovebirds who are the main cast of the day.
No matter how geological factor has done in scattering the family apart from each other, there is always a reason for you to indulge in sense of euphoria.

So, who says the meetup of inlaws always in a trigger pulling situation? Well, sitting down to have dinner might be the very fist steps in becoming inlaws. So, it was so anticipated as the both parents meet up for the very first time, at this very weird place -- "Unique Seafood".

Indeed, the name of the store itself is weird. But in this store, in the midst of a crowded and busy city, they have over two stories of aquarium, inhabited by numerous kind of sea creatures!!

So, anyone? They seriously looks terrifying as they keep staying in the tank and no movement at all. Poor little creatures waiting to be served. *ehem*

The seafood served was so fresh till you can feel the blood pumping through the flesh a minute ago! I know I'm a bit exaggerate, but the dishes was so finger lickin'ly good!! However, speaking of the most heart-winning, i will recommend this lamb chop.

Succulent and tender texture of the lamb, with proper marination, the lamb chop was made to perfection of a slight sweetness sauce. This is definitely a "coming back for" dish!

Though they serve quite delicious cuisine at this place, however you might want to enquire on the prices before deciding. I almost bit my tongue when I see my future-to-be-brother-in-law sign on the bill!

Well, it is kinda awkward at the first place meeting another entirely strange family, which in the sense that will be connected and joined to become one. Luckily they are such nice and generous person, which I can foresee my sister's future with them is a positive one. Pax Christi!

So it speaks, variety is the spices of life. So, it means you need not to travel to another part of the globe to try out something new.

My friends and I have decided to add alittlee spices in our life by following the recommendation from masak-masak for the very unique cuisine -- Tibetan's! Now speaking of that area on earth, my usual impression was to associate with some middle east cuisine or so, meaning big pieces of meat, big cup of tea, et cetra et cetra.

Despite the wrong ways which we took for the guide (me) not knowing which exact restaurant was that, we finally arrive at the doorstep, hiding quietly at the parking bay.

The restaurant was actually a vegetarian serving sites, surprisingly featuring some tibetan menu.

Frankly speaking, the vegetarian food was not as great as we tried at Bamboo Groove, but the taste was not as bad as described in masak-masak. The best among all was this:

Tada! The buttercream beancurd! The buttercream was the thumbs up gravy, thickened, wrapped up the whole beancurd thoroughly. With a slight sweetness in the cream, it actually makes you want more... MORE!!

Last but not least, we also try out the famous butter milktea from the north.

Hmm, let's put it that way, the taste of this tea may not suitable for us in Malaysia, however was an adventure according to the director. The taste was so salty and oily, doesn't even like a proper milktea!

We were first welcomed by the galleries of vintage photos.

This place is definitely a heavenly spot for the alcohol lover. They have more beverages options that the mice in my office :)! The place we've been was a very crowded, and we waited for a moment to be seated at a beautiful spot, memerized by the deco and the atmosphere portrayed in this place.

They serve spanish cuisine here, and thanks to a friend of my who helped us to translate instantly some of the menu into English. Do you know pollo actually pronounced as poyo, which means chicken in Spanish?

To warm up our stomach, we were refresh with the homemade Sangria, which is the combination of wine, rum, and fruits, which taste kinda weird at the first gulp. It taste better along with the green apple slices in it!

The nicest most dish of the night will be the Spring chicken!

It has slight citric flavour in the gravy, which lighten up the taste of the meaty flesh!

It was quite a moulin day when I know my senior, Sall, was resigning.
She has always, to me, a knowledgeable person who is so willing to share her knowledge.
Wish her a very farewell, and all the best in whatever she's undertaking in the future.

Thanks to Sally for providing an opportunity for dining in this great restaurant.

The decoration and the atmosphere in this restaurant was rather Oriental which made me feel like having reunion dinner throughout!

This restaurant located at Kota Kemuning serves exquisite Chinese cuisine which tastes really good!
We were first welcomed by the dish of mixed vegetable which.... I'm loving it!

The lotus root was fried to perfection where it tasted sweet enough not to cover the taste of the rest ingredient by having a very crunchy texture of its original! However this dish was slight oily, for those who hates oil, you may request lesser oil for yourvisit later.

Next, which was also my favourite, the Fried squid.

Now, we've tried much of the fried squid with salted egg yolk. This is the first time I tried the dish with a thin layer of sweet gravy on top of it. The squid was rather fresh and it tasted really great along with a bowl of white rice!

Frankly speaking, the lemon chicken was a dissapoinment. The chicken was not cut into a proper serving size where we got some pieces of only skins, and the gravy of lemon was not properly handled. I even tasted the starch taste where they used in thickening the gravy! They should improve the dish somehow!

Now, speaking of steamed fish, I think the common requirements are the freshness of the fish, the perfect timing of the steaming process, and the side ingredients. For the freshness of this dish, ehem, not that up to requirement, it was obviously overcooked as the fish flesh was rather rough. The heavy taste of the gravy was suspected to cover the un-freshness of the fish itself. "deh-deh" it's a not recommended!

Overall, for those who interested in this shop, they may try to other other dishes such as the Fried beancurd ala Thai which surprised me!

'Eat-all-you-can' concept has been a symbolic for the Malaysian to fill their hunger since decades ago.

This particular Korean-styled Steamboat Barbecue has arrived at Puchong IOI mall, currently having great promotion where you can enjoy great dishes, with an affordable price.

They have various kind of appetizer which allow you to try on while WAITING for your friends.
As I will recommend is the deep fried mantou which is so crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. The yam-flavoured ice-cream is also my favourite too!

The special of this shop is that they're having Ginseng Chicken Soup as base, which quite a unique taste for those who's bored with plain/tomyam. They have multi-flavour marinated meat and fish fillet which ranging from hot and spicy to terriyaki flavour. Sauces which provided also including the Korean Chili sauce which worth a try. Though the kimchi which suppose to be the selling point, surprisingly, was out of range. The taste was so terrible which you wouldn't want to have another bite of it.

Wings Cafe - Music of the night

It has been 25 days since I accepted the offer.
I can see how the job is heading where I think the feeling of boredom starts to develop.
Though it is not a pleasure thing to foresee, but I think I will suck it up for the sake of living.

So it seems living in a metropolitan wasn't a good thing after all.
When it comes to weekend, you are so indolent to find excitement for your life when you think of the terrible traffic out there.
Yet, life is life. You still need to feed yourself in order to continue this voyage of life.
So, for a weekend, you might want to have some melody for a dull life.

This particular place in Bandar Puteri Puchong, has been a good place to attend if you're looking for some noises to spend in your weekend. They have singer-in-residence where will perform some soft music to entertain their customer. Oh, before i forgot, the price of food in this cafe will be slightly higher than the normal rate.

Grande Finale

Following the season of summer is soon to begin in the West, all major series is seems to be bringing to an end. Summer isn't season for series huh, I guess?

It has been a depressive moment for a series fanatic like me who will be stuck in front of the tiny lao-beh screen of my pathetic laptop, watching one after another for the whole day.

The most saddening (some may say ponderous) series which will bid the big screen goodbye is the renowned Prison Break.

I could still recall this series has walk me through my University's life which first introduce by my ex-roommate and soon to be ex-coursemate. Thanks to him, I'm stuck with this Scofield's dramatic story for almost 4 years. Though this show gets kinda boring when they changed from the prison breaking operation to the exoneration gaining and bringing down the company, still, the well knit tense of the drama has keep me from forgetting it. It was kind of brilliant move of the production to terminate the filming of new season, changing into a finale of a 4 years blank. Bravo! This has seriously left the show to a perfection, witout uneccessary pleonasm from the producer.

I'm sure this show will not easily washed off as it will last like The X-files.
Michael Scofield and Fox Mulder. Creating a character which deeply engraved on one's mind is seriously a success of a life.

Yet, another celebration which I must thank to all my fellow coursemates. Though this time, not all join but it is rather warm enough in this little place.

We had our dinner in Saujana Steak House, which also a renowned restaurant in KT area.

This place has a very nice atmosphere which the lighting was rather dim and suitable for a group of friend to spend some great time here. They serve both western and oriental dishes where the portion was rather reasonable accordingly to the price.

I've order myself a cream of mushroom as appetizer, which, turns out to be my dessert. The texture of the cream soup was so rich and I would say slight salty which you can find several pieces of button mushroom in the soup. The soup was good accompany with the garlic bread.

As for main course, the cheese grilled chicken that i order was out of expectation! The tender and succulent boneless chicken piece with the cheese creme gravy, the combination was so fantastic, swept me off to heaven! side dish of grill potato along with sauce was rather good! The only flaw in this dish was the spirali as side dish was so simple and should improve to perfect the dish.

Yes, I'm 23rd!
Soon I will be stepping into the REAL world after so many years as students.
Well, what can I say? 23 is indeed a good number! Transformation from students into unemployed, from a teenage into an adult, bread-winning lifestyle.

The feeling of celebration with bunch of lovely friends is incredibly nice.
I have not much friends. But this bunch is what I call the "heart-to-heart" bunch all the years while I'm in uni.

Early Morning - Bukit Besar

Bukit Besar in Kuala Terengganu Town is famous for it's hiking site and walking pathfor the locals. And here comes a story where 7 boring university students heading into darkest part of the woods in the earliest hour of morning before dawn.The path all the way to the hill top was all winding and precipitous which i think it's about 50 degree of elevation.

Believe me or not, after I've made it to the hilltop, I felt like I've been playing badminton nonstop for two hours. Though it took quite a short period to climb up the hill, the stamina and determination of one to make it is definitely crucial.

Now, what's at the hilltop?

On the hilltop it stood two gigantic communiaction tower by TM, which quite a beautiful scenary in the early hour (hopefully the radiation is not hazardous).

Who ever has pass by Terengganu will impressed by the strong lighting signboard of "Allah peliharakan terengganu" where the view from the back of the signboard was amazing.

Initial objective to watch sunrise was ended in the admiration of twilight, which is such consolatory when we discover the sunrise was the other side of the hill.

Lata Tembakah Waterfall

They have enormous number of waterfalls around terengganu area, well-known or unknown one, but this is much beautiful as compare to the previous Sekayu Waterfall which I went in earlier time.

From Kuala Terengganu town, it took approximately 2.5 hours for us to reach the destination. They have clear indicated sign borad along way which easily led us there. The place welcomed its outsider with a mini hanging bridge.

The waterfall itself has divided into 7 floors which 5th, 6th, and 7th floor does not usually visit by people due to lack of proper pavement there.

The first to third floor was rather flat where the water flows like from a calm river. The breath-taking was at behind and further up of the spot.

I exclaimed the moment I see this.

It is so marvel, in which i have to admit, much better than the Saok and Sekayu, perhaps the best in Terengganu State.

If you dare, try to climb up further to the real shower under the waterfall itself, feel the gentle pounding by the water, I dare to say it was a mind cleansing worth to go.

Located 32km from Kuala Terengganu town, Ajil Pheasant Park has an unnoticed entrance where we almost missed that on the way back from Kenyir Lake.

Entrance fees for this park is RM4 for students, where the farm is run by a family, exhibiting most of the exotic pheasant birds which you can rarely see in nature. The park was extremely warm as it's an open aired structure, which advisable to bring any insect repellent, hats or sun-shading equipments.

In the farm itself occupied an area of 1.7 acres which relatively large for the bird parks. The arrangement was rather primitive where the winding and uneasy pah might be an obstacle for elderly.

I have never in my life, so mesmerized by the full tail flaunting of a peacock. Was not easy to observe the full flaunting as the flirting behaviour among animals which was quite intimidating to me. joyful and gracefully dancing around the mating target has made the art of mating seems to be more atistic.

This trip was consider as a revisit to the largest man made lake in Malaysia (some say even SEA), where I've been to this wonderful place on 4th semester.
Being the last trip before we draw apart from each other after the intimacy for almost the life in this ivory tower, everything was expected to be a perfection though it was also a budget trip.

After the almost an hour drive from Kuala Terengganu, we've arrive at the Pengkalan Gawi, a more tourist friendly jetty departing point to the lake traveling. From this jetty, we travel for about 15 to 20 minutes of boat ride, to the Lake Sanctuary Resort. Though the pricing was slight higher but it's one of the few budget resort which you may find on the island.

Kenyir has the most number of islands of world's man made lake.
Despite the numeroud picturesque scenary which protray by the lake itself, we went to two of the most visit site which is the Herb Garden and the Soak Waterfall.

In the herb garden you get to taste the renowned Kacip Fatimah and Tongkat Ali drinks which are not advisable for those you has bad bitter taste bud. The drink was so naturally brew right from the plants root which believed to be essential to health. Though I wasn't enjoy much by the drink but some raw-eaten herbs was definitely a worthwhile.

Soak Waterfall was not the best waterfall they have there, but to consider a very pretty one.The water is definitely close to ice water temperature.so, try to dip a part of yourself into it before entering the pond!

Thanks to Jason for putting in effort in making us a very sweet and embarrassed video clip. Apart from the magnificent nature, the time spent with bunch of close friends is another memorable spot in the trip itself. Such maudlin way in checking out from the university's life.

I've never imagine how suffer it is for my past 20 years life. To be exact, 15 years of educational life.
I used to be lounging away with my sweet time while back in secondary and primary.
But not this time. I'm literally working my ass off to strive in this time.

Final examination never comes in a simple way.
Especially when you know you still have a frail chance in squezzing your head into the excellency threshold.

Physical and mental exerted to maxima.
I wasn't really those kind who could seriously remembering every word by heart type of person.
But I hope I will at least try once in this very critical moment.

Curse the cramming education system.
Curse the devil who distract me to post this.

It has been a while since the last time my friends and I visited the restaurant host by the food science students which only operate in even number semester. They took the subject where they need to learn how to run a REAL restaurant, starting from goods purchasing, to cooking, preparing, serving, and accounting. Such activity may consider a benefit to be a student in UMT where you may enjoy the so-call fine dining with low price (I think is consider low la~).

We arrived around 11.30 where the restaurant was yet to be open. After we've been seated, they hand us a menu, which, same as previous year surprisingly! Haihz... where is all the creativity ideas gone?

The famous dish which quite popular among students is the all time favourite chicken chop:

A juicy and tender texture of a generous portion, where the crisp with mushroom gravy is just in perfection. The side dish of potato is however quite raw and tasted plain, need more improvement on that.

Another friend of mine ordered the Claypot Hainanese Chicken Rice, turn out to be a chicken rice in a claypot!

Dessert is the pandan layered cake, which is a dissapointment:

Drinks they served was rather commercialized, which over sweetened and tasted weird.

But still, my friend seems enjoy the lunch very much!

Overall this meal was quite a disappointment where the standards has declined year by year. I still remember the surprise and the wonder presented by the seniors in our first year, which I would say much batter than this. Still, opportunities to enjoy such atmosphere in a campus? I would say it's worth a try!

Volunteer Program for TRRG

It was a wonderful opportunity to get involve in this program, thanks to Kok Wai for his kind forwarding of the email. I've been asking around to find some companion to the trip, and it seems quite difficult as this week was consider the critical moment for all the final year students. I thought it gonna slip through my fingers again this time, luckily BY and Bro Chou able to make it! Woah! There we go REDANG ISLAND!!

After attending the ship trip from Syahbandar Jetty in Kuala Terengganu, we have reached the Redang Island jetty by the courtesy of Laguna Redang who seriously has contribute much into the project itself.

A 20 minutes speed boat ride will take you to the unpolluted side of the island, which also declared as the Turtle Sanctuary by State Government, has become the solely research station of Universiti Malaysia Terengganu.

The area was one of the highest landing area of sea turtle in Malaysia. We were told that the nest number has achieved 30 in the first three months of the year.

The volunteering program on this island was rather relaxing. Volunteers are required to help in monitoring the nests by patroling in an hourly routine. Other than that was nest checking based on a 45-3-3 days routine. The incubation hour of green turtle was estimated approximately 45-60 days, with a cluster avergae of 100 eggs per nest.

Relocation of the nest was done once ants was detected present in the nest. Ants are dangerous to the hatchlings where they able o destroy the whole nest in a very short time!

It was quite a pitty thing where you can see almost all the rotten eggs contains a formed foetus, which about to hatch in a while or so. Other than the relocation, the hatched turtle hatchlings will be released back at night time back to sea. Though it is not supposed to take photo with flashes, but my ignorant has lead to guilty feeling after seeing the hatclings were confused and hardly to get back to the sea! So sooooorrrryyyy~~

There is a prawn spa further up in the quarters, which functioned as a fish spa pond, but more natural and environmental friendly!

Ok, focus is not on the feet but the prawn. No comment will be tolerate regarding the feet.

When you get tired of the chores, other than snorkeling in the nearby, this is the highly recommended location for relaxation.

The importance of stupidity in scientific research

I recently saw an old friend for the first time in many years.We had been Ph.D. students at the same time, both studying science,although in different areas. She later dropped out of graduateschool, went to Harvard Law School and is now a senior lawyerfor a major environmental organization. At some point, the conversationturned to why she had left graduate school. To my utter astonishment,she said it was because it made her feel stupid. After a coupleof years of feeling stupid every day, she was ready to do somethingelse.
I had thought of her as one of the brightest people I knew andher subsequent career supports that view. What she said botheredme. I kept thinking about it; sometime the next day, it hitme. Science makes me feel stupid too. It's just that I've gottenused to it. So used to it, in fact, that I actively seek outnew opportunities to feel stupid. I wouldn't know what to dowithout that feeling. I even think it's supposed to be thisway. Let me explain.
For almost all of us, one of the reasons that we liked sciencein high school and college is that we were good at it. Thatcan't be the only reason – fascination with understandingthe physical world and an emotional need to discover new thingshas to enter into it too. But high-school and college sciencemeans taking courses, and doing well in courses means gettingthe right answers on tests. If you know those answers, you dowell and get to feel smart.
A Ph.D., in which you have to do a research project, is a wholedifferent thing. For me, it was a daunting task. How could Ipossibly frame the questions that would lead to significantdiscoveries; design and interpret an experiment so that theconclusions were absolutely convincing; foresee difficultiesand see ways around them, or, failing that, solve them whenthey occurred? My Ph.D. project was somewhat interdisciplinaryand, for a while, whenever I ran into a problem, I pesteredthe faculty in my department who were experts in the variousdisciplines that I needed. I remember the day when Henry Taube(who won the Nobel Prize two years later) told me he didn'tknow how to solve the problem I was having in his area. I wasa third-year graduate student and I figured that Taube knewabout 1000 times more than I did (conservative estimate). Ifhe didn't have the answer, nobody did.
That's when it hit me: nobody did. That's why it was a researchproblem. And being my research problem, it was up to me to solve.Once I faced that fact, I solved the problem in a couple ofdays. (It wasn't really very hard; I just had to try a few things.)The crucial lesson was that the scope of things I didn't knowwasn't merely vast; it was, for all practical purposes, infinite.That realization, instead of being discouraging, was liberating.If our ignorance is infinite, the only possible course of actionis to muddle through as best we can.
I'd like to suggest that our Ph.D. programs often do studentsa disservice in two ways. First, I don't think students aremade to understand how hard it is to do research. And how very,very hard it is to do important research. It's a lot harderthan taking even very demanding courses. What makes it difficultis that research is immersion in the unknown. We just don'tknow what we're doing. We can't be sure whether we're askingthe right question or doing the right experiment until we getthe answer or the result. Admittedly, science is made harderby competition for grants and space in top journals. But apartfrom all of that, doing significant research is intrinsicallyhard and changing departmental, institutional or national policieswill not succeed in lessening its intrinsic difficulty.
Second, we don't do a good enough job of teaching our studentshow to be productively stupid – that is, if we don't feelstupid it means we're not really trying. I'm not talking about`relative stupidity', in which the other students in the classactually read the material, think about it and ace the exam,whereas you don't. I'm also not talking about bright peoplewho might be working in areas that don't match their talents.Science involves confronting our `absolute stupidity'. Thatkind of stupidity is an existential fact, inherent in our effortsto push our way into the unknown. Preliminary and thesis examshave the right idea when the faculty committee pushes untilthe student starts getting the answers wrong or gives up andsays, `I don't know'. The point of the exam isn't to see ifthe student gets all the answers right. If they do, it's thefaculty who failed the exam. The point is to identify the student'sweaknesses, partly to see where they need to invest some effortand partly to see whether the student's knowledge fails at asufficiently high level that they are ready to take on a researchproject.
Productive stupidity means being ignorant by choice. Focusingon important questions puts us in the awkward position of beingignorant. One of the beautiful things about science is thatit allows us to bumble along, getting it wrong time after time,and feel perfectly fine as long as we learn something each time.No doubt, this can be difficult for students who are accustomedto getting the answers right. No doubt, reasonable levels ofconfidence and emotional resilience help, but I think scientificeducation might do more to ease what is a very big transition:from learning what other people once discovered to making yourown discoveries. The more comfortable we become with being stupid,the deeper we will wade into the unknown and the more likelywe are to make big discoveries.

{Reminiscence} Final Fantasy VIII

Well, this is the game which I risk my life to indulge in while I'm still in my lower secondary.
I know, I know, this game has been published far before that, but I get to play just when I enter the secondary school.
It was a, well, a great game at that time where people still kills for a Play Station, when all the Wii was still conceptually discussed. This game impressed me as it was also about a bunch of army school kids with exceptional battling skills, save the whole academy and the world.

the story led by the forlorn life of Squall Lionheart, a students in the Balamb Garden, School of Mercenary, who's fond for Rinoa Heartilly, a daughter of Galbadian, and the romance story bout them was just another highlight in the game. Despite the mature 3D animations in the games, artistic drawings of the minor details was just so attractive that you wouldn't let your joystick unoccupied.

The romantic story was greatly enhance by the song of "Eyes On Me" by the renowned singer, Faye Wong. Although it wasn't powerful enough to struck you at the scene but the notable tune of it will keep your mind haunted for quite a period of time.

He never worries his issue of life, he believes that he will cross the bridge when he comes to it.
Sometimes, he just enjoy sitting on the ground, staring at a point without focus, bath in his own luscious strains.

Though he's such indifferent, yet he wants recognition.
He's good in actions, thinking and skillful play.
Nevertheless, he beats quite a number of people in those activities we known as extracurricular.
He started something late, he masters it fast enough to beat someone who has been into it for years.

Time really do fly! Was waiting for this auspicious season last year and yet today has been the fourth day of the Ox-Year Chinese New Year.

As usual, have to travel 4 hours back to home town, passing by all those virgin nature (or should I say yet to be explore nature), the atmosphere was rather humid where you still see lots of fog surrounding the mountain top.

Nightlife in Terengganu - e-Bistro

Terengganu impressed outsiders by its alcohol-less, nightlife-less impression.
However, if you wanna release some stress or just to get drunk, there is always a place.

e-Bistro located opposite the MingStar Hotel in Kuala Terengganu consider as a better nightout place. Since the town lack of places where you can have total sense of indulgent, few bistros and steak houses do serve alcoholic drinks.

They have few seriously wide-screen plasma TV, with a projector projecting some TV programmes. I was thinking they have the karaoke system also, but no performers when we were there. The lighting was rather comfortable, lacking of all those secondhand smoke, due to the time we reached was rather early. Crowd will start to gather around 11, so if you want to maintain good clean lungs, you might want to consider leaving the place before that.

They serve some snacks, food, liquor(duh!), and juices. Prices were high but still, in acceptable range. the fascinating bout this place is they have a cool luminescent bar counter, which gave a good match to the atmosphere.
